Is it worth paying $65,000 for Georgia Tech over UF free tuition?

Another vote for finishing at Florida.

UF.

Florida. GT is not worth what you’d be putting yourself thru money-wise. And it’s wasteful for your parents to spent that much for the one year.

You’ll need their help later on for grad school, etc.

I love GT. My son is a second year chemical engineering major at GT. You should go to UF. A GT Education is not worth the price difference. UF is a great school.

UF. GT isn’t worth the debt and since at UF you’ll not be under as much pressure to work, you’ll have more free time to focus on studies, do research, work on design teams, and many other ECs.

I am going to treasure this thread. Rare is the CC thread where the response is so unanimous.

Another GT parent here…recommending UF. All things being equal, GT is the better choice. It’s one of the best schools in the world. But in this case, all things are not equal. UF will get you where you want to go, at much lower price. If UF is a good fit overall, and the money matters, it’s not worth paying more for GT.

If you can graduate with a 3.9 in engineering at Florida, that will open many doors!! If you transfer and your GPA drops due to adjustment, etc. you will lose that edge that such a high GPA give you! Focus on finishing strong at Florida and look at other schools when and if you go to graduate school.

Looks like the OP’s question has been answered. Closing thread.
