Is it worth picking USC after the priority NMSC deadline?

USC is pretty low on my list, but it offers a 50 percent annual National Merit scholarship, so I’ve been trying to decide if it’s worth choosing USC over my other schools (none of which offer more than 2k a year). I just realized that the priority deadline was yesterday, however, so is there any chance USC would select me if I changed my top choice now?

Priority deadline? You have until May 1st to name USC as your top choice.

@yoshimax If there is such a priority deadline, I change your First Choice to USC right now and then you can always change to something else later. This assumes of course that the other schools do not have such a priority date stipulation.

@yoshimax: make sure you check your documents from USC.

They only offer 50% off tuition, not 50% off the total cost of attendance for NM winners. Your NM check from the NMSF is $2500 per year. Drop in the bucket.

OP you’ll do better to post USC-related questions in the USC forum. Did you apply for need-based financial aid as well? If so, wait until your package is complete, which is usually in April for new admits.
