I was just named an AP scholar with distinction, but I dont want to list any AP tests (I have my reasons)… Should I still list the award?
I would not believe someone who said they won an AP scholar award if they refused to say what tests they took or what the scores were.
It would be easier to answer this question if we knew what your “reasons” for not listing the tests are.
@bodangles I would send them a picture if that was the case… I mean… who would lie?
@jackrabbit14 I dont want to list the tests that I took.
Then why would you not send them in the first place if you would be willing to send a picture? It’s not like they’re gonna call you after you submitted the application and say “Hey! Can you send us some proof of so and so?” They’ll either accept you or reject you based on what you submitted.
Apparently, lots of people would lie, lol. Plenty of threads made here asking how colleges would know if you didn’t send all your scores, or if you weren’t really the leader of a club, or if you weren’t the race you claimed to be, or if you exaggerated how much money you made in your business, or if you weren’t really first gen, etc. etc. etc…
I got a 3 on one of my tests but got AP scholar, I think that’s a reason to not submit the AP scores
@teenagecrime A 3 is not a reason to not self-report AP scores. That is a passing score. Plus its one score. Why would you not report the rest if you did well? If you don’t report all scores 3 and up, you risk the admissions officers thinking 1) you didn’t take the exam for whatever reason (which could be a negative) or 2) you failed the exam (which again is a negative).
As usual @guinesgirl96 is correct, although I would add that, in the grand scheme of things, AP scholar with distinction is not high on the list of impressive things, IMO.
It would raise a huge red flag if you did it and you might get rejected on the spot because of it. It’s an award that you can easily back up with evidence yet you didn’t. If you got the award, I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to put the AP scores on the app.
