Is it worth retaking a 770+ on the SAT II Physics exam?

Hi all,

I’m new to CC, so please don’t rip me to shreds if I’m not in the correct topic

I just took the exam yesterday, and I felt like I did well on it (especially considering how hard it was). My main concern was that since the scale on the physics exam is very forgiving, do you guys feel like anything less than an 800 isn’t adequate for top colleges, such as CMU or MIT?

I’m already a relatively competitive applicant without an 800 on that test, but I wanted to understand a bit better about what score I would need for my chances to maybe increase.

Thanks,

First, you’re counting your chickens before they are hatched; wait until you get the scores. But no, there is not reason to retake a 770+. It’s a great score.

It is important to understand that for several subjects, the percentiles are depressed because so few colleges request Subject Tests, that the ones that do are the ultra selective ones. As a result, it is the high achieving kids taking the tests. No AO is sitting on the floor cross-referencing scores with percentiles.

No, don’t retake - if that’s your score, you nailed it!
