Is It Worth Retaking?

Is it worth retaking a 2260 on the SAT? my parents want to see me try my hardest to get into a good school.

but my big bro (who already graduated) hinted that at this level, a 2260 to a 2300 wouldn't make much of difference in admissions unless i get a perfect score which is not likely to happen.

and if i retake the SAT, it'll have to be in november since i'm taking sat II's in october.

what do you think?

bump

OOHH so that’s what 10char means…

Your brother is correct. I think there is essentially no difference between a 2260 and a 2300 for admission.

I would ask your college guidance counselor and he or she will have a good idea of who else is applying to the same schools from your school and if it would be worth it to give it one more shot.

bumpity dump

Listen to your older brother. You may take it and get a lower score and that might raise a red flag. leave it alone, it’s a very good score!

That is an excellent score and you don’t NEED to retake it. If you have only taken it once, then I don’t see any issue in taking it one more time. The schools can then super score the results and you may improve. That improvement isn’t what will get you into the school of your choice.

thanks for all the advice guys. it seems you guys are all for not taking it again which is what i’m also leaning towards since my senior year homework is killing me.

bump, more responses are welcomed

I think it’s fine. I had a 800 math 800 reading 690 writing from 10th grade…not taking it again.
