Is it worth sending an updated rank? (sal to val)

I found out today that after the first semester of senior year I went up in rank from salutatorian to valedictorian. I was just wondering if this is significant enough to send as an update to colleges, especially this late in the game. Do you all think it would make any significant difference? Or are they basically viewed the same? Thanks!

Sure, I think that’s a difference. Depends on how close you are in the first place though…

Don’t put too much weight IMO. My school doesn’t release Sal/Val until Mayish, so it doesn’t do squat for college acceptance (my school doesn’t do rankings either). I wouldn’t actually know how this works…

I’d say it’s worth an update.

The only reason I could imagine for not sending the info would be fear that it would somehow irritate the reviewers, which seems unlikely. If it’s too late, so what? If it really makes no difference, so what?

Update!!! I think it would boost your chances.

Harvard requires a midyear report, so they should already have that update from your guidance counselor.
