I am a rising senior.
My SAT II scores are as follows:

Math II: 790
Chem: 770
USH: 740 (I took this over a year ago and don't want to retake)

If I want to go into political science or something humanities related, would it be worth taking the Sat Literature test in the fall? Would I be forced to send that score to colleges, and could I send it early enough for Early Action schools?

(Another reason I want to take Lit is because I got a 740 on Critical reading (800 W, 790 M) and I kind of want to make up for that "weak" score)

If I have enough time and effort to prepare for Sat Lit, should I go for it?

740 is not a weak score for CR. Besides, the writing is perfect, so you should not feel bad for yourself. If you think you wont be too stressed out during application season, then go ahead, take a 4th.

The only majors that base admission on extra-curriculars and interest are those in the engineering and chemistry fields. Don’t take another subject test. Literature is a difficult subject, and it is one of the hardest to get an 800 on. If your reasoning composite is 2330, no admissions officer will even think to say anything along the lines of “weak.” Congrats on your SUPER-HIGH score You’ve proven your proficiency in reading comprehension with a 740 CR, so don’t even think about taking another test. You’re perfectly on-par for top schools! With “good” extra-curriculars and good academics, you don’t have anything to worry about (forget about ivy-admissions…you know what I’m about to say–crap shoot for anyone) since your test scores are even above average. I’ve seen several Stanford admits with 600-something subject test scores and with <2200 reasoning scores and rejects with >2300 reasoning scores and 800 subject tests scores on the results thread. Good luck and focus on developing your essays, ECs and passions!
