Hi! My high school recently got approved for the IB program, and I am currently a potential candidate. I'm a sophomore currently involved in ASB (leadership) and Varsity tennis. My teachers are telling me that I won't be able to be involved in any of those if I do IB because of the 7-class schedule.. So I'm contemplating whether IB will truly be worth it or not. My other route would be taking all AP classes along with doing ASB and play tennis. Please help me out/advise me! Thank you!

From what I know, IB isn’t really worth it. It’s more work than AP and it doesn’t even look much better if you’re worried about colleges. The IB exams are also harder so you’re screwed on that end too.

If your future career path is being a professional insomniac, or you are allergic to sleep, I would highly recommend IB.

Or if you love challenges, yo. It really does prepare you well for college.
Writing papers is easy after the EE.
CAS is perfect BS practice.

I am actually in IB and it honestly isn’t as hard as everyone says it is (at least I dont think so). Its basically all about how you manage your time. I am a junior who has been in IB since freshman year so I know most of its ups and downs. There are some days when you just hate it but most of the time Im just used to it. I think thats the good thing about taking it throughout the early years of high school; to get prepared for junior year. As for the time part I still hang with friends for a long time after school I still have time for basketball practice til 6 pm and time to watch tv when I get home. I hope that helped if you have any questions just ask me.

Oh also some people who take AP classes have waayy more work and it seems sometimes harder then what we’re doing. the difference between ap and IB is that ap classes are more fast paced (fitting as much knowledge as possible into one school year) whereas ib is slower paced but goes VERY in depth

I wish IB was at my school. Take it! lol. You should take it and see how it is.
