Is it worth to give S.A.T II(S.A.T. Subject Tests) Or should I give S.A.T. Subject Te

Hi,
I am from a South Asian country and I am looking forward to give S.A.T.s for doing Engineering Majors/Undergrad from U.S.A. I have already registered for S.A.T. I and kinda prepared for it, should I also give S.A.T. II(Subject Tests). I mailed a lot of colleges for this and came to conclusion that some colleges require S.A.T Subject Tests while some do not. It totally leaves me in the dilemma whether to give it or not. I don't really have plenty of time so I am more inclined towards for giving just S.A.T. I but I do want to go to a good college!
Is it worth giving the S.A.T. Subject Tests? If yes, how difficult are they? Plus, which subject test should I give for Engineering Majors? (I assume Chem, Maths II and Phy).

Thanks in advance!!!

Some colleges actually require them and even the colleges that don’t, recommend them. It would do you good to appear for them especially if you’ve been studying the subjects in school - especially for any competitive exams, as you’ll find them quite manageable.

I think the SAT Subject tests don’t need to much preparation you’ve studied those subjects at school already - I’d say take it. You’re eliminating a lot of potential colleges if you don’t.

Whether you should take them depends heavily on whether you are familiar with the subjects themselves. Even if the schools don’t require it (most schools recommend them though), you should take the test if you know the subject well, because unlike the SAT, the SAT Subject Tests measure your knowledge of the subject matter of various subjects.

Most schools that do require the SAT subject test recommend taking either math level I or level II and a another science/humanities test. Engineering schools may require the math level II and a science test.

In any case, the main SAT is more important than the subject test SATs, but the subject test SATs are still a good thing to have, especially if you have 700+ in them.

It is not a question of worth it or not. Some colleges (usually more selective ones) require SAT2s, some others consider/prefer SAT2s, and yet others don’t care. So, if any of the colleges you’re considering applying require or prefer SAT2s, then take them, otherwise don’t bother.

Depending on the school and the specific program that you are interested in, the testing requirements are specified in each of the related colleges website.

what if a person didn’t have science in 12th grade. Then still is the SAT 2 required? I had maths but not science in my plus two. And i will be applying this year. So should I take the SAT 2? with Math 1 and 2 as my subject? Also, I don’t intend on pursuing engineering.
