is it worth to mention???

im a 1st generation student, and i come from a low-income family.
because of my parents' job, they usually stay in other country (both of my parents).so im only living with my siblings.....(of course they are adults)therefore,i have to handle more housework (or part-time job)than most students do.......
do you think it's worth to mention....?

Totally worth mentioning, it will make colleges go easier on you if you dont have many extracurriculars (cuz you couldn’t, you were busy with family obligations that still demonstrate enormous maturity)

Of course! You could either find a way to work it into your original essay, or you can write an additional essay that describes your situation and discusses how it can have an impact on your desire to attend college and on your high school record.

^^and btw,im also an immigrant.coming from china three years ago…is it worth to mention too???

So long as you are not illegal, it is totally worth it to mention that you are an immigrant. A situation such as this is truly something that will make you stand out amongst all of the pampered, 4.0, perfect rigor, pefect SAT score, pefect list of ECs upper class white boys with octuple legacies.

Being Chinese isn’t so much impressive, however, but being an immigrant in your position is a hardship any college will take into consideration (however, do keep in mind that because you are Chinese, you are not URM).

^^so generally it helps me to stand out ??? :)

Yes. It is a unique situation.
