Is it worthless to...

Would it be pointless to ask a NON-honors geometry teacher from sophomore year to write me a letter of recommendation for top schools?

She and i became really close and she said herself i've been one of her best students ever!

Thanks in advance

Whether you’re in honors or non-honors should not matter. It matters if what that teachers personal opinion about you that does.

Yeah if she knows you better than some of your Honors teachers go ahead. they’d rather hear about who you are as person rather than your academic accomplishments.

I think a lot of colleges request that you have teachers from your junior or senior year write recs.
ask schools before you have her do it.
