Is Kansas State University good for Transfer students?

I am deciding between transferring to Kansas State University or Louisiana Tech for Fall 2014. Major is Physics with concentration in Biophysics. Any opinions on KSU are appreciated! What is it like there? Are there many transfer students? I read that KSU has a 99% acceptance rate. Does this number stand for freshman only? Does it lower the school's reputation to being an "easy school"? Also, what is campus life like? Thanks.

Where did you see that figure for an acceptance rate. I sort of doubt it because KSU engineering has a good reputation.

That’s accurate for KSU. If you have above a 2.0 you’ll get into Kansas State.

All public schools in Kansas have automatic admission system. Candidates only have to meet one of the 3 criteria: 2.0 GPA, ACT of 21, or a ranking in the top 1/3 of one’s class (slightly more stringent requirements for OOS students though). Criteria for transfers is just as easy to meet. So a 99% acceptance rate is actually an accurate statistic (the state flagship, KU, has an acceptance rate of 94%, and the other 5 public campuses are 99% as well). Admission to certain majors is more restrictive (eg engineering), though.

As LakeWashington said, KSU has a strong reputation regionally, especially in engineering. You wouldn’t have any trouble getting a job in KS with a KSU degree.

I don’t know exactly how many, but KSU does have a lot of transfers. It’s a pretty conservative campus and sports (basketball and football) are extremely popular on campus. I have a lot of friends at KSU and I live fairly close so I know what much about campus but not much else.

Thanks for the responses. I also heard it is one of the “Happiest Universities”. Slowly getting excited for the campus visit now!
