Is Kaplan SAT Critical Reading Workbook Good?

anyone has any idea on that book?
or what CR workbooks do you guys think are good?

and about the Prin 11 real tests
are those tests really like the real tests made by the CB?
is that book useful?

thanks!

bump i want to know too

I don't know about that workbook in particular

but I did have a Kaplan book for everything and it had A LOT of answer errors in it, like the answer would obviously be 3, but they said the answer was 4 =</p>

hmm i'll let you know when i get my scores on june 26, just pm me around the time so that i can let you know, ok?

thank you,guys!

I'm very curious to know how good the Kaplan book is... I bought it awhile ago and actually just finished it yesterday. On the first practice test, I got 730, but on the second one I got 770. Which is AMAZINGLY good for me...

thecomisar
so what did you get on previous tests before using that book?

are the tests in that book like too easy...?or just good?
are the tests exactly the same thing as the test made by CB?

It's way too easy.

I get 770s on CR when I got a 630 on my PSAT, and I'm hoping to even break 700 on this june one.

The vocab questions are overly simple, that's for sure.

DinaZhang: the only CR thing I'd ever done before those tests was the PSAT, on which I only got 68 CR. So I don't know if it's plausible or not to have improved 90 points...

coolsushicutter is right about the vocab, I think. I don't think I missed a single vocab question. It's not so much that the words are easier, as that just the structure is much easier to comprehend than CB questions.

Crap. I was so proud of myself for getting that 770... :(

I thought kaplan's questions were ridicuoulsly ambiguous for critical reading. I took a practice test and got a 590. In the blue book i consistenly scored in the mid 700's.

Hm... I wonder if that'll be true for me. I haven't started on the blue book much yet...

.

i decided not to buy that book

so what about the Prin 11 real tests

No personal experience, but I've heard those are pretty good.

really confused

which book should I buy then

PR is good for writing and math, not reading.
If you're looking to get better at reading, I would suggest McGraw Hill.
They teach you how to answer the main idea questions to PERFECTION and give helpful hints and complete explanations to all questions

Do you have the illustrious Blue Book?

yes

i got the illustrious blue book already
and i have subscribed the CB on-line course

and i am considering buying the Prin 11 real tests
and the old SAT 10 real tests made by CB

are the old SAT 10 real tests( the red one made by CB) still useful now

The old ones have analogies on them, which are no longer used. And the math is a bit different. And of course, no writing section. But otherwise, they should give you great practice with stuff like the passage based reading, etc.

thank you so much for your help
thecomisar!

You're welcome :)
