Is Kelley worth it?

Hey guys, I'm from TN, and I am valadating my options whether or not to attend. I have the choice to double major in accounting and finance at the University of Tennessee Knoxville "top 20 accounting school" or major in finance at IU. I will only have to pay around 10k for TN, but around 35k for Kelley "ouch."

My question is: How hard will it be to land a job at a Middle Market, whether it be Chi, Indy, or ny, pretty much anywhere... I probably won't get into IBW, so I pretty much don't care about Bulge Brackets. I just want to get into a nice MM, so how difficult would this be if I major in finance at IU? This is the determining factor...

i'm faced w/ the same situation. Did u get any scholarships from IU? I got 8,000 so it helped a lil. I live in WI so i can either go there or IU or Minnesota. But If i were you, I'd go to Tennessee tho. 4 yrs of college, you can save up to 100k. Or if you want, you can go to tennessee for 2 yrs and then transfer to IU.

This should tell you all about IU's grad statistics.

Most of the kids who get into IBanking come from the workshop. I would also like to clarify that just because a firm is MM/Boutique, it is not easier to get into. Competition is fierce. Kelley is a semi-target and the workshop is great. The market is not the best this year, and I know workshop kids who are having a hard time getting internships.

TN is not a target school, and you will severely restrict your chances for getting into fields like IBanking/Consulting. The quality of your school does not matter if you choose to pursue a career in auditing etc.

Is it worth the money? Depends on your plans. If you want to be a banker, then probably yes. I would also consider going to your state school, keeping a high GPA and then taking a transfer, therby still keeping a high chance of getting in the workshop.

It all depends on your priorities. For Ibanking, there are other state schools with better connections(UVA,UMich,UNC).

alpha sniper....i wanna do ibanking too. How do i get into these workshops? could you please explain in detail wat these workshops are about? when do kids enroll in them? etc.
