like i know when applying to college for undergrad there are many factors (legacy, ec, race) but is law school more numbers oriented. like if you have a certain gpa and lsat score you stand a very good chance at a top school?

yes, law school is very numbers-oriented. a person whose GPA and LSAT score are both above the 75th percentile at a given school have a very good chance of getting in; someone whose GPA and LSAT are both below the 25th percentile at a school have very little chance of admission. Legacy, ec, race, essays, etc. mainly come in for the (admittedly large) group in the middle; even there they matter much less than the numbers.
