What is your opinion of Liberty University? Is Liberty University a respected college? Will future employers respect the education and the degree that a person earns from Liberty University? Is Liberty University considered to be prestigious?

Is it considered a respected college? All signs I’ve seen point to yes. My opinion of it? It depends on what you’re studying. If you’re planning on studying Women’s Studies, or Evolutionary biology, probably not your best bet. If you’re planning on engineering or english literature, it should be fine. :)

Unless of course your employer is not a fan of fundamentalist Christianity…in which case you might have a problem, though they can’t legally discriminate because of that.

■■■■■ i think?

At the risk of feeding a ■■■■■ or offending fiamettia I will comment: Liberty U is not prestigious and not respected in the academic community. Can’t comment about employers at large, though the ones I know would certainly raise an eyebrow to see Liberty U on a prospective employee’s resume. And not in a good way.

Based on this list of incoming stats at Christian colleges:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/christian-colleges/876276-2010-updated-christian-college-university-list.html

They don’t look too impressive to me. But I don’t know much about the school in person (hardly anything other than the name and location to be exact). They didn’t meet my academic standard to check into further.

Not offended at all- I wasn’t sure, but I haven’t seen any signs that it wasn’t respected. I haven’t gone there, and all the colleges I’m looking at are on the opposite side of the spectrum- think Smith and Sarah Lawrence.

student life notoriously and ironically lacking in liberty.

I THOUGHT I had seen this question before… why post it twice? Wasn’t this first time enough?

I gather you’re thinking of the political spectrum. But these 2 colleges are also on the opposite end of the academic spectrum. They are highly respected institutions of higher learning; Liberty U… not.

Author Kevin Roose describes a true or false question on a History of Life exam at Liberty University that asks whether Noah’s Ark was large enough to accommodate various species of dinosaurs. The acceptable Liberty University answer is “true” based on the conjecture that dinosaurs and humans cohabited the earth after the flood (though the professor allows that Noah may have gathered teenage dinosaurs to make more room.)

If you want a school with a religious affiliation respected academics, there are far better choices.

this has been well discussed on the other thread…let’s let this one sink.
