just wondering which school requires higher gpas/sats. my chapman acceptance/rejection letter has been mailed so if i dont get in, I wanna know my chances with LMU.

Hi @laredja, I applied to both universities as well and from what I know, LMU has a slightly higher SAT average (like a hundred more) than Chapman’s. For the acceptance rate, though, Chapman’s a little lower (47%) compared to LMU (50% or so).

I think you can’t really ‘chance’ yourself solely on numbers (I’m sure you hear this a lot). I don’t know your stats, but this might make you feel more at ease:I have a 3.45 gpa (full IB diploma though) and 1700 sat and I got accepted to both universities, with a 20k merit scholarship at Chapman. Point is, results are sometimes–or often–unexpected. Don’t rule yourself out of being accepted to LMU if you happen to be rejected by Chapman (same goes for acceptance).

I wish you all the best! Stay positive!

Thanks! i feel a lot better now.

Also, do you know if LMU recalculates your GPA? At my school, AP classes aren’t counted as 3.0s if you get C in the class. Unfortunately I did get a C and they did count it as a 2.0. Does LMU recognize that in any way?

Just got waitlisted from the university of Washington. How do you think my chances are with Lmu?

No, they don’t look at waited gpa’s

My D, now a Junior at LMU, was not accepted at Chapman.

My S, has received acceptance at both LMU (Honors at Entrance) and Chapman (Presidential Scholar). Both nice distinctions. But the $25,000 renewable scholarship to Chapman currently outweighs the honors at LMU. Have to see if LMU comes up with something for him.

That said, I agree with nerves. And I think your declared major can weigh pretty heavily as well.

Good luck to you!

I was accepted to LMU and waitlisted at Chapman. Really it all depends on what the admissions people think and the types of candidates who applied to the school as well. You could totally stand out at LMU for example and then not stand out as much at Chapman. I don’t think basing one school’s stats against another’s is an accurate way to calcualte chances, because each school is different and looks at different things. :)
