Hey well I was wondering if Loomis is any good compared to the CHELDAGS ? Amy info/insight would be nice... I might consider applying since they have rolling admissions ... Anyways Thanks :)

Edit : Any*

yeah, loomis is pretty good :)

And how is the student life, is it challenging ?

You mean, compared to the GLADESCH. Right?

Well your GLADESCH is my cooler CHELDAGS lol but yes ;)

LC is great school with challenging academics, but it is usually considered by most people a notch lower than the GLADESCH (my cooler CHELDAGS :D). LC is not cutthroat competition from what I’ve heard, but you should expect a good amount of rigorous work.

LC has the reputation of being an artsy school, yet its arts program is certainly not on par with these at Choate, SPS or Hotchkiss.

Mmh thanks for the info lol, what is their average SSAT ?

Though the information on [Boarding School Review - College-Prep & Jr. Boarding Schools](http://www.boardingschoolreview.com) may be outdated, according to the website LC’s average SSAT score of newly admitted students is 79%.

Ohh thats good and I heard their yield rate sucks so someone applying as a rolling applicant could have a bennefit, am I right or not ?

not sure cause they probably have a wait list.

Ohh well I think I might apply…

Swissbrit, If you have not received any acceptance /or FA from HADES schools, please accecpt LC. LC is a good school. They have very good facilities and a very good campus and good academics. It is part of the www.tenschools.org. All the school in this list are good.

If you are applying for fall of 2010 admission, it may be difficult to get accepted at this stage. FA for 2010 is impossible at this stage at LC.

There are other top 100 school, some have open enrollment and FA still available. Any of the top school are good. You got to start your research and make plenty of calls asap for Fall 2010 admission. At this stage apply for school that have high acceptance rate.

[Boarding Schools with the Lowest Acceptance Rates - Boarding School Review](Most Selective Boarding Schools (2023-24))

It does have a good reputation. With a name like loomis, its gotta be good.

Wait I cant even get 50 % FA for Fall 2010 ?

LC rejected or denied a lot of FA who were eligable for Fall 2010. Unless you already have been aqcceted and awarded 50% FA, I doubt at this stage you will get any FA if you haven’t even applied yet.

Funding has become very difficult this year. Deadline for FA was Feb 1 2010.

Don’t they reserve a bit for late applicants/rolling applicants ?

We got FA from all schools except LC. The LC letter states:This has been one of the largest applicant pools in the school’s history., an yet it has also been characterized by numerous requestd for FA. Unfortunatly, the aggregrate Financial need of the students who qualify for FA is far greater then the aid we have available…"

Advice is to start applying to other schoos that have high acceptance rate and FA still available. The longer you wait, others are competing against you and getting in, and you will be left out.

But for me it is only worth applying to very good schools since my local HS is in the top 50 in the nation so I think that I will just apply next year…

Swissbrit-same with me, people keep warning me about applying to such limited schools, but my HS is actually a top one so I’d be fine with going there as well…
