Yesterday I received my acceptance from Loyola with a presidential scholarship of $18,000. However, the school would still cost about $40,000. I love the school and everything it has to offer, but 40 is still a big number. I was accepted elsewhere with full tuition scholarships. Are there any current students or people familiar with the Sellinger School of Business and it reputation who would like to give their insights?
Out of those Villanova is the strongest for business. But it too is expensive! Fordham is a great school for business too! Ultimately you have to go where you could see yourself! Look at placement rates for those schools. Very important to get a job once graduating. Good luck! I love Fordham too for my son. Best of luck!
Francessss,
If you got full tuition at Nova or Fordham then they would be a better value for you. Sellinger has a nice reputation especially the Finance program but both of those schools are just as good if not a notch higher and if less $$ than I thinks it’s a no brainer.
D is a greyhound, and it has been a fabulous fit for her. I can’t say enough good things about the school and the faculty. Loyola was her first choice. Once all the financial aid offers came in, it wasn’t her most expensive option, but it wasn’t the cheapest. It was, however, within the upper range of the limits of what we had determined we could pay - had it been beyond those limits, she would have had to choose differently.
What is your situation? Can your family pay $40k? Would there be lots of debt involved? You need to have some serious talks with your family to figure out if this is feasible. If $40k is out of the question, or even a hardship, then you should take a look at your other options and determine what is the best fit - academically, socially, geographically, AND financially, to decide what school will be your home for the next 4 years. Good luck!
My D is a freshman at Loyola and is loving her experience. She also got a Presidential Scholarship which made Loyola about $14k a year cheaper than Villanova for us. She is finding the academics to be a little more challanging than she expected, but she feels she is learning a lot. However she is a bio major, not a business major so I can’t really help you with that. I do know Villanova’s business school is very competetive and top notch, but I don’t think Loyola’s is far behind. PayScale.com ranked Loyola in the top 6% of U.S. universities for mid-career salary potential.
All of the schools that you are considering are good schools–I dont think you can go wrong!
Full rides to any of those schools is an easy decision as long as you like them. If you have letters from those schools showing those offers you can also pay a visit to Loyola and show the letters. Ask Ms. Hicks to reconsider.
