Is maintaining a 3.2 G.P.A. at UMD for CS hard?

So this is really late, but I’m still really conflicted about whether to confirm my enrollment at UMD or not. I’m out of state so the tuition is higher, but I received a scholarship for $12,000 each year if I maintain a 3.2 G.P.A. and I don’t know if this will be very difficult. I was also accepted into the ACES honor program and visiting the campus was absolutely amazing! However, my worries about the scholarship requirements and my second choice have been holding me back. I’ve also been accepted into UVA, which is in state for me so it’s cheaper than UMD. Both colleges seem really great but it seems to me that UMD has a lot more research/internship opportunities. I’m really conflicted about this so getting any advice/feedback would help a lot. Thanks!

Both are good schools. UMD does have good internships but so does UVA. I have a couple friends who go to UVA for cs and they love it and were able to get internships at NASA and other government agencies. UMD also does same thing. If I were you I would chose UVA because its cheaper and honestly I don’t think its worth the extra 5-6000 dollar investment and then their is always the risk of loosing the scholarship. I currently have a friend at UMD that was a really good student in high school but is maintaing a 3.0 right now, but he’s in his second year. Good luck and please let us know your decision. Congrats on the acceptance.
