Is majoring in advertising for graduate school a good idea?

Is majoring in advertising a good idea if im getting a bachelors in graphic design?

Do you want to teach advertising? If so grad school might be worth it. Advertising is a broad term. What area are you interested in other than graphic design? You’ll learn far more if you’re working in the field than if you’re spending more time in school.

No, I dont plan to go into teaching. So a graphic design job would be sufficient for going into advertising? Also, basically what areas I have in mind are magazine ads/layouts/corporate identity and logos/commercials/web designing/bill boards etc pretty much along those lines. pretty much the design aspect of adverising.

I was pondering this because I have consistently heard that art director positions and other poositions with creative control are generally given to advertising people.
