Is majoring in pre-pharmacy difficult

Im currently a senior in high school and im debating on if being a pre-pharmacy undergrad is to difficult and overwhelming. any insights?

It’s challenging but doable if you like sciences and math alot. Otherwise, it’s probably tortuous. I think it’s the kind of program that you have to be very motivated to get through. Much of that depends on why you want to become a pharmacist. If you stay focused, can say no to social events that would interfere with your study plans, and do whatever it takes to keep up (go to office hours, find a tutor if you need it, etc.), it’s probably not as bad as many people say. Time management is very important!

The first and second semesters consist of classes that would apply to many majors - you could try these and I think you’ll know by the end of the first year whether you want to do it or not. For now, try to get some experience shadowing a pharmacist or two - maybe one retail and one hospital - and do some research on the profession. If you don’t know what you’re getting into and why, it’s going to be hard to maintain interest.

Good luck with your decision!
