Is making an app impressive

Let’s say if you got 2000 or 2100 for sat but you made an app like facebook all by yourself, would that help you get into top universities like mit or stanford etc…

So is making an app “impressive”?

Tons of kids create apps. It really depends on how popular the app is - measured in downloads. In general though, no, creating an app is not enough to offset low grades and/or test scores. Academics come first at top schools. They have to feel comfortable you can handle the work. GL!

@Ryanaua they will evaluate your application as a whole and determine if you are qualified and have potential to succeed there.

In general, creating an app in itself isn’t impressive (particularly if it’s extremely basic, or really buggy, or doesn’t get many downloads). Of course, many do write apps that eventually become very successful for them.

If you made something like Facebook, yes Stanford would probably offer you a full ride

Just for you information tho, the app “Facebook” isn’t impressive. The initial website (his idea) was impressive. There’re ton of programmers out there who are well capable of making “apps like Facebook”. But the important thing is creativity and uniqueness
