Is math SAT subject test mandatory?

i want to go to one of the uc's, preferably berkeley, la or sd and i had heard that taking the math subject test was mandatory or recommended from one of my friends.

are there any sat subject tests that i should take?

i plan on taking lit and us history because math is definitely my weakest area and i was wondering if i had to fit math in.

thanks.

nope, not required

I thought the SAT II Math was required for the UCs

thanks for the responses, but i'm still confused.

haha.

can anyone please help?

no, they are not required,

Are specific SAT Subject Tests required for admission to certain campuses or majors?
Specific SAT Subject Tests may be preferred for admission to certain majors.

For example, applicants to the following UC campus schools, colleges or majors are strongly encouraged to take the SAT Subject Test: Math Level 2 and a SAT science subject test (Biology E/M, Chemistry or Physics) that is closely related to the applicant’s intended major:

Berkeley: Colleges of Chemistry and Engineering
Los Angeles: Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science
Riverside: Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering
San Diego: Jacobs School of Engineering; also recommended for students considering majoring in the biological or physical sciences
Santa Barbara: Engineering and Computer Science majors

Irvine: Applicants to the Henry Samueli School of Engineering are strongly encouraged to take the SAT Subject Test: Math Level 2 as one of the two required SAT Subject Tests.

look into the colleges of your choice..some may require you to take subject tests..some may not..some may even place a requirement on which subject test they want you to talk...however, each college differs and not all colleges require you to take an SAT II.

thanks a lot evan, really answered my question.

btw: the UCs no longer accept Math 1, so if you're going to take a math, it has to be 2.

thanks for the info, but i've decided to take the lit.
