Hi,

I'm a Canadian citizen but i've lived in NJ for almost 9 years now. I wont bother with ECs since i know McGill doesnt care about that, but numerous.

4.57 weighted GPA--- Ranked 6/~350
1500/2270 superscored SAT
Two 800 SAT II's, Math 2 and Bio E
35 ACT
8 AP exams, 6 5's and 2 4's-- National AP Scholar

Thanks to all who reply

Yes, McGill is probably quite a safe bet for you.

Be aware though, that McGill does look at some very specific course grades, and if you have a B+ in one particular course that McGill requires an A- in for admission to a specific program, then you can be out of luck. So your overall GPA (especially a weighted one) isn’t that important–McGill may totally ignore many of the courses in the GPA and just focus on the ones it deems essential for admission to your program of interest.

well it says i need A- average in English, but I got a B+ (my only) in Honors English my soph year. But overall my 3 years so far i have an A-. Should i be fine?

I think you are definitely in.

It would not be rational for them to reject you because you received a B+, and in an honors course to boot.

I think what they do that if you want to major in a liberal arts subject, that they will place more emphasis on your grades in those subjects.

well i saw for BComm they require A- in English, but i think they would consider the average over my 3 years, no? And i got a 5 on my AP Lang and Comp exam, so that should counteract the B+. I’m just worried because mcgill is basically my only safety with a bunch of reaches. If i dont get into any college, i dont know what im going to do.

You will probably get in, but if you are worried, apply to one more safety.

Yeah clearly not gonna get into college with those stats, im sorry man… how have you already taken 8 ap exams? Not many schools are a reach with a 2270…
