Is Mechanical Engineering right for me?

Hello everybody. I am fairly new to this forums and I wanted the other users insight in helping me with my college decision.

Like the title says. I am wondering if Mechanical Engineering is the right degree for me. Here is a little bit of information about myself.

Currently I am 20 years old still in the high school stage when it comes to finding out what I want to do for the rest of my life. Mechanical Engineering is interesting to me because its the mechanics that draw me to it. I love taking apart and reassembling basically anything and everything. I hate desk jobs and sitting in front of a computer drives me crazy. There is exceptions to this however, I will sit in front of a computer but not all day everyday. The next big factor is the travel. I don't like to travel due to the fact that I am VARY close to my family.

If anybody could give me an opinion on the information and give me any tips. Also I have one more question that relates to the field.

Does anyone know if it's hard to find a entry level job (right after graduation)?

Tell more about academics. Have you enjoyed your math and science classes? Engineering curriculum is quite intense. It’s great to have mechanical knack, but you need to be able to tolerate the academics too.

Sounds like mechanical engineering technology might be more your thing. Mechanical engineers aren’t typically doing the tinkering but instead designing the things that get tinkered.
