With a 3.4 GPA, I wouldn't say Michigan is a safety. However, if you took the hardest classes and got a 2370 on the SAT, I definitely like your chances with Michigan.

what about me?
4.0 unweighted GPA
2200 SAT
33 ACT
took hardest load of classes available.

ok, again, the avg SAT is a 2030, and GPA is around a 3.85 or so. You have a 4.0 and a 2200, plus AP or IB. I think you might have a shot at getting in lol. Don't know safety if you're OOS.

what's OOS?

Out of state

nicelike, UM is def a SAFEty for you lol..although with those stats I'd say most school are except those usual suspects HYPS, MIT, Cal Tech etc....

Merit money is very unpredictable because there are so few substantial merit scholarships. Take LSA, for instance. The admitted class in LSA is about 8,000 and they offer the following merit scholarships which range from full tuition to a full tuition/room/board:

LSA Dean's Scholarship 150
Shipman Scholarship 50
Stamp Scholarship 18
Bentley Scholarship 10 (in-state only)

As you can see, it's somewhat of a crapshoot. Most of these scholarships factor in not only academics and test scores, but also EC's and community service.

Also, I see now that the OP is applying to Engineering. Sorry to be off track.
