I definitely want to major in accounting. I was considering double majoring in this as well as Management Information Systems (MIS). Is this a viable combo?

I'm trying to ascertain whether it will help future job prospects. I want to make myself as employable as possible for job hunting after graduation. How does MIS relate to accounting? Will a potential employer possibly want to hire me more if they see that I have a B.S. in accounting and MIS? At first I thought about minoring in MIS, but someone suggested majoring in it because minors don't help much.

I plan on minoring in Professional & Technical Writing, as well as getting my Master's in Accountancy and sitting for the CPA exam. I'd like to get in with a Big 4 firm and eventually have my own business and work from home.

Any advice, personal experience, suggestions, etc?

Well, personally speaking, if you don’t have a hard course load, double major seems fine. But if you are trying to get the MSA and CPA, I suggest you choose minor so you can spend more time on GMAT or CPA preparations or your resume. Try to get into a MIS project if you can. That will help you a lot.

I’m going into college with 45 credits. I was originally planning on graduating in three years. But I figure that by staying for the fourth year, I can get the last $3,750 installment payment of my university scholarship to help offset the costs.

I do want to get my M.Acc. and sit for the CPA exam, but I don’t want an MSA. I’m wondering if a bachelor’s degree in MIS will help my accounting job prospects? I want to make myself as employable as possible.

The MIS and accounting majors are both offered by the College of Business. So, I would only need to take 9 more classes to do the MIS double major.

I looked around on my university’s website and found what classes they accept for the General Education FKL requirements. I also found what classes are required for my major.

I took numerous Advanced Placement and dual enrollment classes in high school. Another place on their website lists what class credit I get for AP exam scores.

So I just connected the dots. I have confirmed it all with my academic advisor at the university.
