Is Mount St. Mary's a good college?

I am catholic and was wondering if this is a good school. What types of things are they known for?

Is this the one in NY?

in california

I want to make sure you are referring to Mt. St. Mary’s in Los Angeles rather than St. Mary’s College of Californina which is in the SF Bay area in Moraga. The two are quite different. Mt St. Mary’s (Los Angeles) is an all-womens college. It is located quite near to UCLA in the hills above Brentwood. It is known for it’s liberal arts and science programs and it’s excellent nursing program among other things. Approx. 60% of students live on campus. You can find more info at www.msmc.la.edu

Although “good” is subjective, in no way is Mt. St Mary’s in the same league as the “better”(another subjective word) LA area or Cali schools. If you want an all girls school that is reputable and good look at Scripps. If you want a Catholic school, then look at other schools that are not all girl schools. I tend to think of the type of students who attends Mt. St Mary’s as those who probably can’t get into a UC or a better private, and would most likely would have ended up at a Cal State. The only plus with a private is the attention and hand holding you’re paying for. Mt. St Mary’s would often come to my LAUSD high school to accept people on the spot. The only schools that did that were schools like Cal State LA, Dominguez Hills, FIDM etc.
