Is Music Honor considered an "Academic" Distinction?

^^Yea the title pretty much explains my question. Thanks.

bump..............

bump again! :)

I'd say yes, because a) music is an academic department at Princeton and b) the music faculty are involved in every kind of music.

i put all my music awards under academic since there's no other place to put them anyway

I put them under "additional information"...

^I didn't use the common app though.

No........

hmm well i actually put it in the second space under "Music:Instrumental" in the extracurricular portion on the common app. i put like "Eastern/State/School Orch." in that space, so basically my All-Eastern/State/County, etc. fit there, but there's this other music "honor" i couldnt fit, so i just put it in the academic honor portion. Do u think putting like "eastern/state/school orch." in the extracurricular portion is acceptable?

You'd be better to attach it somewhere else and write out the full name of them. I used the "what else would you like us to know" section.

what if i also sent a music resume with all my accomplishments when i also sent the arts supplement? everything will be put together in my file during evaluation right? i mean after the music depart. reviews my music stuff. so maybe that'll suffice.

I would put it on your real app just in case also.

Wait, the music department evaluates our music supplements?
For some reason I thought the admission office did that too....
Anyone know how that works for sure?

i think both evalutates. music depart. writes an evaluation and sends it to the admissions office. so i basically did put all my music stuff in my app so thats ok, my only concern was whether to put it in academic honors or not. cause i put some of em in the extracurricular section. like "Eastern/State/School Orch." -Principal Cellist, President.... ah. wutever im worrying too much lol.

I think the admissions people don't ever listen to your cd (why would they bother? they don't know). The music staff listens to all of them, but they only write letters back to the admissions office for people they * want *. And i think you have to be pretty good. I dunno if admissions ever gets back the non-cd things you send in, so it's best to copy your achievements/resume into your app, too.

well i called the admissions office one time and they said that EVERYTHING goes back to your file after evaluation so. im sure that they try to write something about everyone.

Sorry, I think I got confused with another school I was applying to that said the music deparment NEVER receives your supplement.

Yeah I called in once, and I think it seemed that both will review it.

i may be wrong, but i dont think they even write letters about supplements. I think that like the Ath;etics epartment, the Music profs just give u a rating on achievement and how much they want u. (1-5).

They also made it seem that even if the music department didn't want you or whatever, that it still helps to send in your music because it shows your talents, dedication, etc
