Is my art good enough for a supplement?

Hello,

I need some help. I've always loved art, and has been a hobby of mine for some time, however, I am questioning whether I should submit an art supplement or not. The thing is, I have no awards, only in one art club (already mentioned in commonapp), and have very little things to put on my resume regarding art- I can't bring anything new in this required resume that isn't already mentioned in the commonapp.! I've taken two art classes: computer art & I.B. Art, and that is already on my school report. I've done one slient auction and donated 4 art pieces *also already mentioned in common app. However, I do want to continue art in college, and be more involved with the art community at University of Chicago, and I know that I have a talent at art, but how qualified do you have to be to submit an art supplement? How good does your art have to be? I am just confused because I think they will be expecting something AMAZING and may be disappointed because my art is sort of average.

Would anyone be willing to look at my art and maybe help me confirm my decision on whether I should submit the supplement? I guess I just need another set of eyes and another opinion then my family's.

I would really appreciate it. I will PM you the images if you are interested.

bah anyone???

maybe you could link us to some of your work?

Okay here are some pictures, most of them are graphic art. There is one drawing and one painting. My camera is really blurry and the pencil drawing had to be edited to look clear.

I struggled with the same. I think if you're applying to places like University of Chicago, an art supplement probably won't make much of a difference, but you never know. Toss up.

Well, I think you should include a supplement; I enjoyed your pieces quite a bit. However, i am not an art student and have no idea what is expected in a portfolio or a supplement.

I think you have some nice work. You should definitely submit it -- there's not a down-side. (FYI, I have a BFA in graphic design and my son submitted an art supplement of his photography work this year and was admitted ED.)

I actually believe that arts supplements CANT HURT YOU. Unless their awful, which yours clearly are not (they seem good to a someone like me who doesnt really know), send it in, they only have to make ti seeem like it will hurt you to save them time, lest everyone sends in stuff

Okay, I think I will submit it; blackeyedsusan is right, it can only help. Thanks for the suggestions and comments everyone!

University of Chicago? Are you by any chance a math major or advanced in mathematics? The art reflects a mind with very high math relationships. I would include 5 of your best works.
