–the entire Ivy League
–Johns Hopkins
–University of Miami
–Georgetown (maybe. I’ve heard really good things about their English department)
Where’s the list??
@prospective1998 and…how much will your family pay?
I accidentally posted the thread without finishing; should be fine now.
Make sure you hone in on the aspects of the Ivy League more. Based off your list, you seem to like urban campuses better. Cornell and Dartmouth for example, you probably wouldn’t like. Don’t just apply because they are Ivies. Overall though your list is reasonably balanced. Throw another match in there, that’s not a top tier school like Johns Hopkins or Georgetown.
@TheDidactic, the only school that I would consider a “match” would be UMiami, and that’s a bit of an optimistic assessment in my opinion; but thanks! And yeah, I was seriously considering taking Dartmouth off of my list because I don’t really feel like I’d like the surrounding area; Cornell I’m kind of on the fence about.
I agree that UMiami would be a match. It’s not too optimistic of an assumption given your stats. (You do mean Florida right?) Also, Brown is very unique and quirky. Not your typical school.
@TheDidactic, it’s probably my favorite, aside from Johns Hopkins, on my list; I feel like I’d really like the general social atmosphere, plus I love the idea of an open curriculum.
I think another match or two would be good, but the list itself looks fine otherwise.
Might I suggest Macalaster? It’s smaller, yes, but an urban liberal arts college might be up your alley and I’ve heard good things about its English department so it may make for an okay match. Not to mention it’d meet 100% of your financial need.
@Writer2020 Thanks, I’ll take a look at it!
I second Macalester. I would also include Barnard (Columbia University’s women’s college - AND, since you like the open curriculum… no big core unlike at Columbia College) and, for the open-curriculum aspects, Amherst, Hamilton, perhaps URochester?
