I applied regular to USC and I sent in my common app and paid around Jan. 7th. I know this is entirely my fault, and I've been panicking about this... but I was working on my supplement on the 10th and I accidentally fell asleep and when I woke up, it was already 12:15 am pacific time. at that point, I was so scared that I just submitted my supplement without looking back. Will my application still be considered late?
I was hoping that the USC admissions people will be lax about it.. I'm so skrewed.
should I call USC's admissions and try to negotiate a refund or something if they won't accept my app?

It’s late, 11:59 is the latest you can submit it.

As for your refund:

Let’s hope for your sake that this procrastination and tardiness of yours does not reflect your true nature, because if it does, you’d probably be better off not applying to USC anyways.

Ugh I feel so stressed right now… if this is why I won’t get a chance to be evaluated by the USC admissions, then I’m going to kill myself… but thank you for the reply. I’ll try to call USC today just in case too.

i think you should be fine. colleges aren’t that picky about few minutes. i hope they will consider it.

Do call today and contact admissions, but realize that it may be too late for this year. However, please remember that if USC is your dream, you can apply as a transfer next year or take a gap year and apply again next year. Everyone makes mistakes in their lives, and hopefully we grow from these experiences. Best of luck in the future!

USC is known to be very forgiving about this sort of thing. I’ve read on here that they’ve considered applications much later than this. Email your USC admissions counselor as soon as you can just to confirm. I’m fairly certain you’ll hear a positive response. (Do this in addition to calling the Admissions Office - that office is staffed with many students. Your actual USC Admissions counselor is the person in charge of your application, the first to read it, etc. A good person to have contact with - you can find him/her on the website by your high school.)

I agree with jazz/shreddermom. While USC is VERY strict about the scholarship deadline, they are much more forgiving on the regular deadline. I was at a luncheon at USC a couple of years ago in early March and found myself sitting next to an admissions officer. She mentioned that she was reading an application that had come in the previous day (early March). I was very surprised and asked if USC would even consider such a late application, and she said they read and consider every application they receive. I do not know if that applicant was admitted, but I do know that they were given a fair consideration. I think your 15 minutes will be okay.

I second the suggestion to contact your admissions counselor and tell them what you told us. Don’t be overemotional, do any begging, or ask for a refund. State the facts and then say you hope your application will still be considered because you are very interested in attending USC.

Good luck!

I also know a student who submitted his application not minutes but DAYS late. He was still accepted into a highly selective major at USC. This was a couple of years ago, so things might have changed, but don’t lose hope!

thank you very much for the replies! I’m sorry I overreacted so much…hopefully I won’t procrastinate like this again when I apply for scholarships… lesson learned.
I called the admissions and they said I am fine as long as I submitted the application, despite the tardiness. Hearing that really relieved me!
