is my dream really crushed (T.T) ?

Ever since i was little, my dream was to become a engineer.

As a high school student i dreamed about getting into pretty decent engineering schools like UW, UIUC, IIT, etc.

but now i have realized that i am running out of time and my dream may not even be come close to possible....

I am a out of state student and i really want to go to a decent engineering college

my high school resume is pretty decent except for my sat scores and im really depressed by that....T>T

i am going to be a senior and honestly, i am running out of time.

so far i have completed my junior year of high school and have a....

-4.06 gpa (top 5% of my class)
-have taken 3 ap classes: world history, gov, eng language (going to take ap calc and bio senior year)
-1610/2400 (430 reading, 620 math, 560 writing) on sat and im going to take act later on in the near future (i know this is such a low sat score for a person applying to a engineering college T.T)
-played one year of soft tennis and been playing 3years on the golf team (team captain next year)
-Vice president of math club
-so far im in key club, nhs, PAAC, and math club
-i can speak 2 language
-did 100+ hours of community service

i dont think my test scores will change dramatically and i was wondering if its even possible for me to get into any engineering college that is some what decent.

if so, it would be nice for u guys to list some colleges that might be reach for me..

honestly you seem pretty crushed about your SAT score. It seems like a few months of hardcore studying to get to a 2000 might be worth it for you. It would open WAY more opportunities.

i know 2000 sat score will open way more gates for me but honestly, ive been preparing for it for months but i just cant raise my score x.x probably at the best it will be close to 1700. do u know any colleges that will accept low sat scores like mines?

I have a good friend from high school who has been a working engineer for nearly 30 years now. He failed out of one of our home-state public Us back in the mid-70s, then went back to school at our local community college where he completed the pre-engineering transfer program and then enrolled at another home-state public U. The community college to public U route may work just fine for you too. Don’t discount it. Take a look at the programs offered at your closest community college, and see where their pre-engineering or Associates of Engineering graduates end up.

There are any number of reasons for having an ACT or SAT score that is low relative to your classroom GPA. One that springs to mind is that English could be your second language, and that you are still mastering the higher-level skills needed to do well on that kind of exam. In which case, you ought to take the TOEFL. Your score on that exam will help the colleges and universities better interpret your ACT or SAT score.

Since you have been doing SAT prep, I would expect that you have spent some time developing good test-taking strategies and skills. If the program you used didn’t focus on that, study again using the Princeton Review “Cracking the Exam-Name-Here” materials. You probably can get a copy at the public library.

Two other possibilities that might be worth discussing with your guidance counselor (he/she should have even more ideas for you) would be test-induced anxiety, and a learning difference that falls in the processing/dyslexia/dyscalculia range. If you are a very visual thinker (which is extremely useful in engineering) and you mix up the bubbles on standardized tests, get yourself checked out for dyslexia.

As an engineer myself, I will tell you there are lots and lots of really great engineers who did not go to the most prestigious schools. Its really more about how hard you work in learning in whatever school you do go to, and how hard you work when you get out of college.

Don’t give up!

Thank you peoples For the advice…
Both of my parents are japanese and japanese is my first language. However, I have been living.in the U.S for my entire life so I cannot take the TOEFL test.
I just recieved my act test score and I had a composute score of 23 T.T
It was 20 writing, 28 math, 19 english, and 23 science.
My dream of getting into an engineering school is getting smaller and I feel aweful… (TWT)
