Over the past 4 years, I've devoted a ton of time to rowing- from November through February I spend 6 hours per week at crew and March through the end of May I can spend upwards of 24 hours per week. On my common app, my school crew season is 15 hours/week, 26 weeks per year. I'm captain, a state champion, a national medalist, I attend board meetings and I wrote for our newsletter. I rowed one summer season, and I did a big fundraiser related to rowing. I have other ecs, but I think it will come across as that I am passionate about rowing. However, neither of my common app essays are related to rowing. I wrote my main essay on how I motivated myself to run up a big hill during a cross country run. In it, I mentioned how I struggled with sports/running, and I have a paragraph about crew about how much work I put in to qualify for Nationals (something I thought of while running up the hill). But my extracurricular essay is on my part-time job. Will colleges think it's weird that I didn't further elaborate on rowing? Or does my passion for rowing already come across and is it good that I'm writing about something else? I'm applying to pretty competitive schools. I did write about rowing in an essay for my first choice school, though, it's 150 words on a "passion" I have.
