<p>Most international students apply to 8 or so schools. We did that in our high school too. So, it’s possible that a high school councilor pimp Duke to him as a fall back. I did get into Duke too and didn’t go. It does not have as much reputation internationally as it has nationally. </p>
<p>I think we are all aware how powerful the Berkeley brand name abroad is specially in Europe. What I was actually questioning is, he got onto the computer science programme but in the College of L&S, which is not the same as EECS, from what I know, whilst he got into EECS at Cornell.</p>
