is my high school competitive?

around 4ooth in nation newly released 2010 list

Yes. It’s not necessarily a good thing either.

I would say yes…it should be. Mine was like in the 500s last time i checked…and my school is competitive :(

I feel good about my school because we beat #37, #67, and #83 in Science Olympiad. My school isn’t even on the list, but I have to question the methodology of the list because I found several other local schools on the list that I know to be inferior to my school. We regularly beat them in Ivy Admissions (because we, unlike they, have some), Cal admissions, AP, and academic competitions. Also, the best school in the area (the IB program) isn’t even on the list.

Where do you find such list? I doubt my school would even crack the 1000s.

I’ve also wondered where this list can be found.

Google it. That’s what I did.

us news [America’s Best High Schools 2010 - US News Education](http://www.usnews.com/sections/education/high-schools)

My school is always in, like, the 50s or 60s, except the rando year it was in the 30s. But the list is silly.

why is a competitive high school not good?

^ People are cutthroats. High stress levels.

I slept on my entrance exam for the #1 school on that list, and still got in the top 80%. There was an Asian who got lower than me and got admitted.

I think one of my cousins goes to Thomas Jefferson…the one in Alexandria,VA.

I used to live in Alexandria lol…then i moved to falls church.

I swear, I never see any black people when I go there. I hear the stereotypical Asian accent for Jesus’ Christ sake. Going off of stereotypes, the basketball team is all white/asian.

Huh. My school isn’t even rated. Which is odd, considering we’re one of the most competitive public schools in the state. I guess our academics aren’t that impressive, though.

LoL, it’s based off of how many AP/IB tests you take…how is that realistic?

@eastafro: My aunt used to live in Falls Church. I loved it.

@MIT: b/c whenever I’d go visit my aunt…she’s always talking about how she wants him to get in there so bad…and how she’s prepping him for the entrance exam and everything. He’a already a ****ing overachiever for a middle schooler (was)…he was in junior NHS, gifted and talented…advanced/ahead in Math. Did tons of programs like QUEST.

@Mit: I’ll go find out where he went this year…since he was a freshman in hs lol (my mom just told me he got into some private school…idk)

@Millancad: Yeah! Falls Church was awesome. I miss it so much. I miss having 7/11s and everything. Best place ever. Plus it was 5 mins away from D.C. :frowning: I really, really miss living there like crazy. My grandma lives there now (@ Skyline if you know where that is lol)…

mine is 214…lulz.

^ The metric for that list is the APs taken to student ratio. Newsweek even explicitly states that it completely disregards AP passing rates. The list is a joke.
