I live in Ga.
Unfortunately I do not.
I agree most of the schools on my list have a low acceptance rate I am still searching for schools with a higher acceptance rate.
Hint 1: Go to Boarding School Review and search for âMost Selective Boarding Schoolsâ. Scroll down the list to those that accept >40% of applicants.
Hint 2: Think about what you really want in a prep school.
Thank you
Remember what I advised back in your October thread.
What do you dream of pursuing more in depth that you canât do where you are right now? That might give you an idea of what to look for in a school.
Did you ever have a class that really inspired you to learn? What about that class inspired you? That might give you an idea of what type of teaching environment suits you.
Do you thrive more in a highly structured setting? Do you thrive more when given a lot of freedom? Or do you fall somewhere in between? Knowing which you prefer will help you make a saner list. People who dream of going to Putney generally donât also apply to a military academy for high school (unless a parent forces them). And I suspect you are closer to being a Putney person than a military academy high school person.
@sksksksk123, I would like to know whether you want a more traditional BS experience, or one that perhaps is more progressive.
Iâm an incoming new 4th former (sophomore) at Hill and I will tell you from my experience so far it leans towards the more traditional BS/Private school vibe.
I feel like here at the school I go to does not challenge me enough. Everyone will be given the same thing and if you need help you arenât given it. And I also donât have much independence or freedom given to me. Which led me to start applying to boarding schools. Mainly I want to branch out and be given better opportunities since the schools here do not.
I would say traditional but also progressive if that makes any sense.
Sorry I didnât make any sense. My main interests are culinary arts, fashion (to me its a form of expression), I love filming video so digital art, business entrepreneurship, history (learning about countries and their histories), but other than that I am very open to other things and I am still learning what I want to pursue sports wise I am going to tryout for my schools tennis team so hopefully that helps.
Then Hill might be a good fit. It is traditional in the sense of a uniform, sit down meals, etc. But the education is very progressive. They use all the same methods that Andover, Exeter, and other well known boarding schools.
With those interests, you might love George. The culture is not as traditional as many. But great film, super diverse, and excellent academics.
Concord Academy doesnât have art classes, they have artists in residence who teach art. It doesnât have a higher acceptance rate but if art is really a passion for you Iâd look up their artists and do a deep dive impressive application centered around your art. It is also a progressive/traditional school in some ways.
