Is my profile enough for Purdue with scholarship? Please help.

Hello, I am from India. Here, most of my friends are preparing for IIT JEE. I didn’t. Thus, I am really afraid about what my future is going to be (or if there is going to be anything or not). I am not preparing for IIT JEE and that kind of cuts on half of the colleges in India. Well, coming to the point, I want to do CS. This is what I have so far:

SAT 1: CR 500, WR 680, M680 (Total: 1860)
SAT 2: Not taken
APs : Not taken
ICSE: 93.6%

EC’s:

Senior Diploma in Indian Classical Flute from Allahabad University. State level 2nd position in flute.
Junior Diploma + 1 year in Indian Classical Violin from Allahabad University. State Level 1st position in stringed instruments (played violin).
Junior Diploma + 1 year in Indian Classical Tabla from Allahabad University.
Various local competitions won in flute, tabla, guitar, violin, synthesizer.

District level football player. Won several school competitions.

Member of the founding committee of a sports academy of the school.
President of the Computer Club of the school. (Hosted the biggest student-organised fest in India)
House Captain of Blue House of the school.
Vice Head of the Quizzing Society of the school. (Hosted several quiz competitions, like from the ISC Board)
Part of the International Student Exchange Program with Learning Realm International School, Nepal.
Assistant Director of Vox Populi: The Debating Phenomenon, by voxpopulispells.
Leading the school orchestra since 5 years on school’s annual day function.
Won TiE UP Chapter, and participated in TiE Globals in Atlanta.
Technical Head of the Literary Club of the school.

I am extremely thankful if you read it till here. Any kind of suggestion or help will be highly appreciated. I am really low on budget, so I really need scholarship. :frowning: Else I’m doomed. I really like Purdue. Will a university like that accept me and give me scholarship? What other universities should I be applying to? Computer Science. Scholarship/Financial Aid needed!!
Sorry if I wrote something silly, I just started with this stuff.

Thank you again.

Your SAT score is not even enough for Purdue admission, not to mention scholarships.

I’ll take the ACT this September. How much should I be getting to aim for scholarships? Thank you for the response

@firetruck Your SAT score is actually enough, it’s mid range. Not in the upper hand.
ACT: aim for a 32, and you’ll be good.

@labmedicine Thank you for your response  Ya, I’ll aim for something like that. I was actually reading the ACT Prep articles. Just got a 58/60 on ACT Maths when I practiced it for the first time a day ago. Thank you.

@firetruck that’s excellent. Did you time yourself? Timing is what kills most.

@labmedicine yeah! I completed it in 54min.

For one of the near 1000 Trustee and Presidential Scholarships, aim at 35 or higher in ACT. I am not sure if international students is eligible though.
@labmedicine SAT 1860 is just near the 25th percentile for Purdue engineering, not in the mid range at all. Particularly, OP is an international student. Aim at 32+ in ACT for admission is a correct assessment though.

@labmedicine I think what billcsho means it that the OP’s SAT score is not enough for international admissions which is much, much more competitive than in-state or out of state admissions. Also, because he is applying CS which is a competitive major at Purdue.
Purdue scholarships are also going to have much higher requirements for international applicants than domestic ones, and even then, they don’t give out that much money.

If you take the ACT and get a decent score (Think 32+), you can look at University of Alabama as they might give you a full ride.

@billcsho That would be an eye opener. Thanks a lot for your detailed response. I’ll definitely do that.

@rdeng2614 Thanks, but does University of Alabama have a decent CS program? :o
