You can’t “just barely make it,” you do or you don’t.

^No, they literally called me and told me my SAT score was the reason they were on the fence about me…AlexE you should try reading…I said “jk of course”

From what I’ve heard around, the SATs matter way more if you’re from the States (duh) and the competitiveness posed by the SATs is determined by the region you’re from. To be on the safe side, retake them. They can’t hurt you (Unis tend to look at the higher scores and ignore the lower ones).

Have you taken the ACT? You may prefer it if you are strong in the sciences.

CrystalPineapple - I said between 2280 and 2250, I think. Your score certainly qualifies as strong enough. It also means that you scored an average of about 760 on your other 2 sections (Writing and Math).

However, had you applied RD, your chances would have been significantly less - but you probably know that.

i got a 2340 (CR 770 Math 800 Writing 770) and i still got rejected. ouch…

and i thought my college essays and ECs were pretty strong too…

^That sucks…did you apply to Wharton?

nope…engineering (not even biomed, just plain old Electric/electronic)

Take the ACT. If you flash brilliant on it submit it instead of the SAT. If no ACT try to get CR up to 700. Do well on the SAT ll’s. Make sure you are in the top 10% of your class. Show a passion for an EC, score some good recs, and write a good essay or two. You will then have about a 1 in 3 chance of getting in.

I think your score are ok, I have 2040 and still got into engineering… I didnt think my application eassays were that good, in fact I made my teacher correct them after I submitted and there were somethings that could have been better

Okay here’s a dilemma. I came to the US in 8th grade. And the score i got was is from 3rd SAT test. So i dont really want to take the test 4 times.
And yes. I am in top 5% of my class (out of 700). My weighted GPA is 4.23 (not including my 2nd semester junior year) and 3.93 unweighted.
I took 2 SAT twos. SAT II Chinese (800) and SAT II Math level 2 (800)
I am planning to take the SAT II US HIstory and Chemistry.
If i can get 800s on both of these subjects, would i have a decent chance?

PennDreamer, apply ED if penn is your first choice. my SAT score was 10 points higher (i had a 660 on the reading section of the SAT. ) than yours and my SAT IIs were not as high (but i also didn’t take chinese as a native speaker…). my GPA is probably about a 3.94-6 unweighted. i honestly think you have a decent chance as it is.
