I got my SAT score back yesterday, and I got 1520 (1530 super scored). I was expecting 1550+ so I am a bit disapointed… For top colleges, ie Harvard, Duke, UPenn, Cornell, etc how much better would a 1550 look than a 1520 (or 1530 if they accept super score)? I’m wondering if those extra 20/30 points would be a big help or if I should focus my time on the essay and other materials. Thanks!
I don’t think its worth the time to retake just to get an extra 20 points. If you are 100% confident that you can retake and get 50+ points extra, then it is worth it, but 20 extra points probably won’t be the difference between an acceptance and rejection. Just my 2 cents.
Not worth it, on one hand 1550, 1570, 1590 may not increase your chance much. some application 1600 still can’t get in the school you listed. Rather, spend good time on your essay. if you have uw gpa 4.0 and meaningful EC, you don’t need 1550.
It’s not even the right question to ask. You haven’t noted what scores for which portion, but 1530 is somethere between 800/730 aand 770/760. Fine. Now figure out what else matters more.
