Georgetown (EA)= 80% Definitely apply there.

Wow really? 80% acceptance rate EA? thats crazy!

Im definitely applying there then!

Actually, i just checked collegeboard. For Gtown:

* Number of early action applications received: 3,863
* Number admitted under early action plan: 977

Thats only about 1/4, not so high, but I'm still applying.

No, what I meant was that you have about 80% of acceptance with your credentials if you apply early.

i think your list of schools is really realistic. i think you have a good shot with both georgetown and nyu. im not sure about unc since i heard that its like impossible to get in from out of state though. but you probably have a good shot with that too.

good luck w/ both your early and regular decision schools!

Thank you for your opinion! I agree that UNC is impossible for out of state, which is why its a reach for me :) But I still want to apply because its wonderful. Thanks!

Being from NJ won't help you at UNC because it gets a lot of NJ applicants, but I'd still say you have a very realistic shot. The threshold for OOS admission seems to be ~1500 (old SAT), so you're teetering on the edge. Your ecs are very good, though, so a good essay and recs could do the trick!

I think NYU Stern is a match for you not a reach.

^Oh really, thats great news because I really want to go there! It's my first choice, so that's great.

I also might apply to Cornell, just for fun. I want to know that I applied to at least one ivy. Im not planning on getting in though!

bump? anyone wanna help me out some more? :D

My school list has changed a little bit;

I may be thinking of getting rid of georgetown, prob not applying to penn state or lehigh

I may be adding Northwestern.

I need more safeties!

Please help me think of at least 1 more safety/match to add to my list, preferably something strong in business.

Thanks :D

Getting rid of Georgetown EA is a good idea because you can't EA there and ED somewhere else.

actually....im pretty sure that u can apply both EA and ED since EA is not binding. if you were to get into both u'd go to the school that u applied to ED

What makes you want to go to UNC? You really should consider visiting if you havn't.

1) You are getting into Stern, you are a FEMALE, no offense
2) You will get in RD so I wouldnt waste ED on Stern
3) You seriously underestimate yourself. You don't need more match/ safeties you need a REACH. As is you have practically none!
4) You already have too many safties. Your matches ARE safeties!! Have you ever heard of a 1500 top 10% not get into U of I?? I haven't.
5) As is you are getting into every school you are applying to, which might be nice, but in actuality it isn't because it means you aimed WAY too low.
4) You know that 90% of people in business and working for top firms DIDN'T go to business school? You get the same jobs from any top school, yo don't need the business degree.
5) Add Penn, Brown, Dartmouth, Columbia, Duke. These are the types of schools you should be aiming for. Dartmouth and Duke are SAT oriented over GPA so you have a particularly good shot at those two, and from personal experience (and being an Indian also) those two are a ton of fun.

I highly doubt that's correct. That's even higher than Harvard! My good friend from Hong Kong got into UNC as international. His SAT was 1350 or something like that and he also got 3Cs out of 9 subjects on O-Level (Hong Kong version) though a "C" there could easily be an "A" here because of the ridiculous curve there. He got rejected from other top privates and transferred to Northwestern after spending a year at UNC.

My brother got into UNC out of state, 3.7 GPA (pretty decent for my school), 1380 SAT. He's a junior there. Out of state UNC is difficult but people exaggerate.

Wow slipper - thanks a lot for that info! That boosted my self esteem a lot! The reason I'm not really aiming for all the ivys and such is because I don't really have the best of extracurriculars. I don't have many leadership positions and I haven't done enough - so thats the main reason why I haven't been aiming for it. And besides, I really love new york city, and Stern is a great school. It has tons of great opportunities and I just love it. I'll probably apply to Columbia as well but honestly - I'd rather go to Stern! I may be stupid/selling myself short but I just had a certain chemistry with NYU than with any other place - and I can see myself being really happy there! They also have such great study abroad opportunities - it is required to go abroad - and they have really interesting majors. And honestly, I am really not interested in a liberal arts curriculum - I don't want to take another science class ever again! I love reading the business section of the newspaper, and I like Calculus. I also love writing and such, but I just don't want to go through a liberal arts curriculum and go to a school like Duke which is not particularly strong in Business. I really like the idea of a focused, strong business program in NYC which will give me great internships throughout the school year. UNC Chapel Hill also has a highly ranked business program too, so thats why I'm applying.

I really appreciate your feedback (slipper) - but I've done a lot of research and I'm very happy with my choice. Unless you think I have a shot at wharton, Im not interested in applying to Penn! I'll probably apply to an Ivy - Columbia. But honestly, i love my first choice :)
