alot of ppl get into cornell and brown every year... a few got into duke, 1 got into stanford, 1 into mit, 1 into harvard... i think thats good?

a friend of mine has a 5.0 W and is ranked 11/315. I haev a 4.1 W and am only ranked 125/315. I think you got it good. Another friend of mine has a 4.0 UW and is ranked 42/315, and shes taking as many ap/ib classes as possible.

My school got rid of class rank because 10% of my class had a 4.0GPA (we don't weight) and to be in the top 50% you need a 3.7 or something. Its really stupid, because I feel like getting an A does not show how smart I am because anyone can do it.

Our top 25 percent is 4.2+, so no, it's not that unheard of.

Our school doesn't weight AP courses, but I know that rank 18th has exactly a 95 and rank 11th at my school has a 96.

well yeah
my school is the toughest public in my area too though, but also the smartest

like i always hear of kids on CC taking like Honors an AP everything.

But at my school that would be impossible cause its too hard
the person with the highest gpa in my school has probably around a 4.7
and he's crazy. He's got like three Gold medals in the State Academics Decathalon.

Umm but yeah
like with the exception of maybe 5 or 6 (maybe) out of 2100 kids at my schools, 4 AP's at once would be death (we have the 4x4, so we have 4 classes at a time, for half the year)

and i know its not cause kids at my school are dumb, cause last year we sent like 13 kids to HYPS (out of a class of 491), another 35 to top schools like Northwestern, JHU, and other Ivy's. around 50 to UCLA, Cal, and UCSD. and a handful to other great schools like USC, and NYU.

^ same here, most would take 4 or 5 MAX and that would be death... its cus the teachers grill you so that you know EVERYTHING (well maybe..) but highest gpa is 4.06... for 0.5 weight for AP and none for honors

it kinda sucks bcus other kids from diff schools in same county have gpas of 4.3 or 4.4 while we struggle to get above a 3.8

but it doesnt really matter bcus your being compared within schools right?

My friend has a 3.1w at my school and is 107/177. I have a 3.6w and I'm 32/177.

The valedictorian for my school got a 6.8 this year...I don't know how, since our school only adds 2 extra points for APs, which means the highest you could get would be a 6...It makes no sense..oh well
