Is my score good enough?

I took 2 Sat Subject tests over the summer and got a 720 in spanish and a 740 in US history. I want to go to some of the top schools.
my question is that i am latino (of brazilian roots), so i speak portuguese. will colleges be less impressed that i did well in spanish because i fall under the category of hispanic/latino?

Both scores are good. However, since you say you are of Hispanic decent, the Spanish score probably won’t look as good as if, say, you took French and got a 720 on that.

^I disagree. Portuguese isn’t Spanish. My best friend is Italian and lived in Italy; should her French score count for less because she lived near France?

I think your scores are very good and will be helpful in admissions.

Yeah, both a 740 and 720 are very respective scores, and typically, many students do not perform so well on the language tests (due to low curves and it being meant for native speakers). Portugese and Spanish are alike, but make sure you’re able to bring that up on your app to clarify it.
