Is National Merit Semi Finalist worth putting on college applications?

I plan to apply to HYPS and I was wondering for my common app if I should list National Merit Semi Finalist or a community service award I received for volunteering over 300 hours (at school and at a hospital). NMSF is thought to be a big deal but it literally just shows you can take a test well, and I got a 36 on my ACT so I don’t think colleges will care.
Thoughts?

I don’t really think colleges will care about either award, but I think NMSF sounds a little bit better. Idk though…

Most colleges will care, some will care enough to give substantial merit money for National Merit Finalist. HYPS won’t care much because they see so many NMSF applicants anyway.

Are you a NMSF yet? If you are a senior and NMSF, haven’t you already applied to colleges?

@NorthernMom61 No, I am a junior. However, I got a 1500 on my PSAT, meaning I am undoubtedly a NMSF.

Once it is official then, there is no reason not to list it. Congratulations on your likely candidacy.
