i and my family were stuck in the snow, and there were no people to help us and we felt that we going to die…(finally we were rescued after trying a lot of thing to get out of the snow) something like… does it sound too cliche ?
i think that the experience still has an influence on me, but i am not sure if it is good idea to write about near death experience, since people around me say that it is too cliche and is not good idea (…)
What kind of schools are you applying to?
I don’t think it is a cliche. I think it maybe interesting for an admissions officer to read; they get a lot of dull essays. But the question is what qualities it shows about YOU that they will want on campus. That is the harder part.
Near death is not the same as death.
It could be a good start on the Common App prompt about when you became an adult. You can talk about what you did to help, and far more importantly, the lessons you learned.
