Does anyone have any information about New Mexico Institute of Mining and technology (NMT)? What are their strongest programs? Is NMT truly an Engineering powerhouse? Is it underated on major ranking lists?

“Is NMT truly an Engineering powerhouse?”
joke?

and no it’s not underrated…

I think the school is, I actually was seriously considering the school before I came to the conclusion that it was too far away from where I lived (Boston, MA), but from what I have heard, the school is an excellent place to get an engineering education. My dad works at Harvard as an electrical engineer and his colleagues have all heard about the school as being very good

New Mexico Tech is a jewel of a school with excellent faculty in all disciplines. The curriculum is difficult and the academic experience is rigorous.
The largest and strongest departments are Physics, Earth & Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. Although, the other engineering departments (civil, chemical, petroleum and mineral) all have excellent instructors and cutting edge research projects.
New Mexico Tech is a research institution, as well as a university that offers Ph.D’s in almost all departments. More than 80 percent of undergraduates get paid research opportunities.
If you’re interested in learning more, I’d be happy to answer any questions or put you in touch with students or professors in your area of interest.
