is newhouse even worth it?

i'm a current syracuse student, got a 3.933 both semesters my freshman year so i'm pretty sure i'll be admitted to newhouse next year. i can't stand syracuse though and really do not enjoy myself there...so i applied as a transfer to gwu's journalism program and got in. but i still have no idea what to do. i like gwu's journalism program better because it is a more broad program and not so specialized in one type of journalistic practice (like newhouse is--magazine, broadcsat, newspaper, etc). but, even though i like gwu's program better i still don't know if it's worth giving up the prestigious name of "newhouse school public communications", and am scared i'll later regret it because it is a highly ranked journalism program. but is the prestigious name of newhouse really worth sacrificing 3 more years of being miserable and counting down the days til the semester is over/i go home? any advice from current newhouse students who aren't freshman and have taken upper-level newsie classes or any advice in general would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Acknowledging that this is your decision and my opinion doesn't matter in the end:
As big a fan of Newhouse as I am, I think GW might be a better choice. The Newhouse name is nice, but a name is nothing without hard work behind it. If you go the GW you'll have to work hard, make sure you're a top student, and most importantly, get incredible clips. Get as much experience as possible. If you're a good journalist, you will get hired. Just bc it has a good reputation does not mean it is the right school for you.

And if you stay, pm me, fb me, come say hi somehow. I'm always looking for new friends, and I didn't love my first year either (sophomore year was a pleasant surprise).
