I just took the October ACT and totally failed.
I am guessing I got a below a 20 ACT Score. Only colleges I am applying to are UC’s. They only require either ACT or SAT and I already took the SAT. My SAT score isn’t the best and I am fine with it. I decided to take the ACT to see if I do better on that test since it’s completely different from the SAT.
I’m thinking of canceling my ACT score now before it gets graded so a bad score won’t have a bad impact on my college admission. But is sending a bad ACT score better than sending no ACT
@giriboy You don’t have to cancel the score and can opt just not to send it unless you apply to schools that require all sittings of every test you take. Did you chose to have the scores sent directly upon the grade being available? If you did, then you may have to cancel to avoid the results from being sent but you should speak to your parents/ counselor if you can before doing so. I think you have 2 days to cancel but I don’t know so look it up on the ACT website to get accurate information.
@Gumbymom really? I know you have to send all score for SAT, but I read that UC take highest score from each section in the ACT. Still regardless, it says I have to send the ACT if I took it
UC’s do not superscore. They take highest ACT composite from a single sitting. Since you sent both SAT and ACT, they will still take the highest score, that being your SAT.
They will take the highest score from a single sitting for either the SAT or ACT. If your SAT is higher, they will use your SAT. They are not trying to reject you, they want admit applicants. If you are still able to cancel your ACT scores, then I would at least try.
The CSU’s will superscore the ACT sections: English/Math/Reading and Science for the highest composite.
For the SAT, they will superscore the Math and Critical Reading.
