I'm in honors trig right now (I'm a junior), and I hate it with a passion. I've loaded myself up with a lot of AP english/history/language classes next year, and I'm wondering if it will hurt me at all by not taking a math class. Calculus will be a pain, and I really don't want to have to go through it. I know I'll have to take it in college, but if I'm not majoring in a math/science field, will it affect my chances of getting into certain colleges?

it won't really matter if that's not what you're going to major in.

i don't think it really matters but you might want to look into a stats class.

Both of the above posters are wrong if you are interested in top-tier universities, which it seems like you are because of your emphasis on honors/AP courses. Many Ivies and equivalents very highly recommend taking 4 years of math and English, along with 3 years of science/social studies and preferably 4 years of foreign language.

my friend got into harvard as a history major and did not take a math class her senior year

i know lots of people who didnt get past precalc or didnt take a math senior year who went to top tier schools
